Southern Hills Plantation Hosts PGA Q-School
BROOKSVILLE, Fla. –Southern Hills Plantation Club, a private, Pete Dye-designed Club in the Tampa area, hosted the PGA Tour’s second-stage Q-School event Nov. 12-15. Approximately 78 players competed at Southern Hills in the event in an attempt to get one step closer to securing a PGA Tour Card for the 2009 season. Southern Hills is one of only six golf clubs nationwide chosen to host a second-stage Q-School event.
Q-School is a grueling three-stage process that determines the last 25 golfers who will receive PGA Tour Cards for each season. Finalists in Q-School who don’t qualify for Tour Cards receive fully exempt or conditionally exempt status on the
Nationwide Tour depending on their scores.
Southern Hills Plantation Club, ranked in the top 100 residential courses
and the top 50 new courses in America by Golfweek magazine, and was also a qualifying site for the Canadian Professional Golf Tour in March. The championship course features elevations from 60 to nearly 250 feet and presents challenges for golfers of every skill level.
