Leisure Activities/Sports
- The only private Pete Dye course in the Tampa area is located at Southern Hills Plantation. The terrain is unlike that of any other, and is the second longest course in Florida.

- Ernie Wever Park, located in Brooksville, is Hernando County’s largest sports complex. The park includes baseball/softball fields, tee-ball fields, soccer fields and a multi-purpose game field.
Inland Attractions
- Visit the historic Hernando Heritage Museum in Brooksville and see over 11,000 artifacts on display. The museum is a 4 story 12 room antebellum home that was built in l856 and is decorated in the civil war, Victorian era.
- Located atop one of the many hills in Brooksville is the Christmas House, an enchanting village featuring five turn of the century houses filled with an array of gifts for all occasions.
- Cool down at Buccaneer Bay, Florida's only spring-fed water park. Enjoy the white sandy beaches, kiddy pool area, tiki bar, lazy river tube ride, and the constant 72 degree spring water of Weeki Wachee Springs.
- Silver Springs is a nature theme park that surrounds the headwaters of the beautiful Silver River. View the underground springs from glass-bottom boats, where you’ll see fish, shellfish, turtles and alligators.
- Watch all kinds of fish dart through the water at The Florida Aquarium in Tampa. With more than 20,000 aquatic plants and animals from Florida and around the world, experience what life is like under the water.
- Busch Gardens in Tampa is the ultimate family adventure theme park. A unique blend of thrilling rides, over 2,000 animals, live shows, and restaurants, Busch Gardens provides excitement for guests of every age.
State Parks and Recreation
- Dade Battlefield State Park offers a peaceful setting away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The park protects a historic battlefield as well as the natural communities as they existed when soldiers and Seminoles battled over 180 years ago.
